Mouse trapped in the wire in my compost heap.

The mouse was terrified.
He had to be cut free using wire cutters.
Possibly it went in, ate too much and couldn't back out or go forward.
A cautionary tale.

Looking closer at the ground.

So easy to miss, these subtle patches  of beauty beneath our feet.
A patch of moss on the concrete path.
The camera was pointed to the brightness of the coloured leaves that shouted for my attention.
Looking down I noticed the intricate, complex world down on the earth.
I took a closer look.

Something about the intensity of the coloured leaves this year - The wet summer and the early cold = magic.

See the small flowers nestled under the brilliant red and orange leaves.
I hadn't noticed them until I posted this photograph.
How often the small and retiring are overshadowed by the loud and noisy.
What a relief it is to rest the eye
on things that are delicate and shy.
